TIA Management To Indian Is Against Nepal: Prachanda

Kathmandu, July 8: Top leaders of the UCPN (Maoist) and CPN-Maoist have agreed to work together against the government's plan to handover the management of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to an Indian company.
During a meeting held at UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's residence in Lazimpat on Sunday, Chairman Dahal and Chairman of CPN-Maoist Mohan Baidya agreed not to handover the management of the TIA to the Indian company.
"Prime Minister had agreed to handover the management of the TIA to an Indian company during his India visit. I also knew this issue recently. I am not in favor of this agreement," CPN-Maoist Secretary Dev Gurung quoted Dahal as saying at the meeting.
During the meeting, the leaders are leant to have discussed party unity and the recent clashes over the ownership of the party offices across the country.
As per the decision, the party having majority in the district committee would own the respective party office around the country.
Secretary Gurung said that during the meeting Mr Dahal told the leaders of CPN-Maoist that he was going through the report of the newly-formed party and he would announce party unity at anytime by taking a decision to that end.
According to Mr Gurung, the leaders have also agreed to involve the leaders of CPN-Maoist in the meeting of the four major parties from now onwards.
During the meeting, Mr Dahal and Krishna Bahadur Mahara were present from the UCPN (Maoist) while Chairman Baidya and Mr Gurung represented the CPN-Maoist.
Leaders of two parties are scheduled to meet next on Monday.
