Unity Without Principles Impossible: Baidhya

Kathmandu, June 13: Amidst mounting conflict between two factions- one led by Vice-Chairman Mohan Baidya and other by the establishment in the UCPN-Maoist, a discussion was held between the two sides on Tuesday.
Following the meeting held at Vice-Chairman Baidya's residence, Baniyatar, Chairman Dahal said the discussion was serious and positive.
Similarly, Vice-Chairman Baidya said no concrete decision was made though two sides put forth their views in the meeting.
They would meet next on Wednesday as well.
Leader Baidya further said they were for unity but the unity must be based on thoughts, work direction and principle. Unity without these was impossible, he added.
The Baidya faction has called national gathering on June 15.
It has been sticking to the demand that the party must adopt the work direction of new people's republic by correcting past mistakes on various issues, including army integration, and constitution writing.
The establishment side had Secretary Post Bahadur Bogati, standing committee member Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Chairman Dahal while the Baidya faction had General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa, Secretary CP Gajurel and standing committee members Netra Bikram Chand and Dev Gurung and Vice-Chairman Baidya in the meeting.
The meeting lasted for four hours.
