Six Killed, 42 Hurt In Road Accident

Kawasoti, Aug. 20: Six people including a bus driver were killed and 42 others were injured when a bus and a truck collided on the East-West highway at Naya Belahani-8 in Nawalparasi district Monday night.

The passenger bus with registration number plate Na 4 Kha 1092 was going towards Mahendra Nagar from Kathmandu when it collided with a truck with Indian registration number plate UP 53 BT 9387 coming from the opposite direction.

Four people on board the bus died on the spot and two others died while undergoing treatment at Bharatpur, the Area Police Office, Kawasoti, stated.

Among the dead, identity of the bus driver has been established while the name and address of the five others has not been ascertained yet, police said. The deceased driver is Madan Singh Rawal of Baitadi. The injured are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Chitwan.
