This peg is crucial for maintaining stability in trade, tourism, and cross-border transactions between India and Nepal. Nepal Rastra Bank, under the governorship of Dr. Bishwanath Poudel, publicly determines and announces these daily foreign exchange rates, which are then implemented by banks and financial institutions across the country. While the exchange rate for the Indian Rupee is strictly determined by Nepal Rastra Bank, other foreign currency exchange rates can be set by banks and financial institutions within its guidelines. The central bank has stated that these exchange rates can be revised at any time as needed. Commercial banks may offer slightly different exchange rates, and the most up-to-date rates are available on the central bank’s official website.
