The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) will launch a nationwide organisational expansion, public outreach, and election-focused campaign from Maurighat, a location within Deukhuri, the capital of Lumbini Province in Dang, on Sunday. The campaign aims to strengthen the party’s presence across the country in preparation for upcoming local-level elections.

Party Office Inauguration and Campaign Kick-off

The RSP will inaugurate its provincial office in Maurighat, relocating it from Lamahi. RSP General Secretary Bipin Acharya and Kamal Subedi, the sole party lawmaker elected from Dang-3, are scheduled to be present in Deukhuri on Sunday for the office inauguration and the commencement of campaign activities. RSP Dang Chair Kiran Khanal stated that the campaign will begin at the provincial level and subsequently expand to local levels, electoral constituencies, wards, and neighbourhoods.

Campaign Objectives and Activities

In its initial phase, the party plans to expand its organisation down to the ward and neighbourhood levels. This will involve direct engagement with local residents to understand and integrate local problems and needs into its political agenda. Acharya, who is also a lawmaker, is scheduled to meet with government office chiefs in Dang on Sunday to discuss development projects and government priorities. Separately, Khadkaraj Paudel, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and RSP MP from Kaski-1, is scheduled to visit Dang on October 8 to inspect Tarigaun Airport in Tulsipur.

Nationwide Organisational Push

The RSP has been actively expanding its organisation across Nepal, with plans to mobilize lawmakers and central members in all 753 local levels across 77 districts for this campaign. The party intends to hold discussions with citizens regarding the performance of local governments, policy initiatives, and the process of selecting candidates for future elections. The campaign is a strategic move in preparation for the next local-level elections, expected in May 2027 (Jeth 2084 BS).

Background and Future Plans

The Rastriya Swatantra Party was established on June 21, 2022 (Asar 7, 2079 BS) by Rabi Lamichhane. In the 2022 general elections, the party secured 20 seats, becoming the fourth-largest party in the House of Representatives. The party has announced a central committee meeting for October 17 (Asoj 31 BS) to finalize decisions on the division of responsibilities for its leaders and the framework for selecting candidates for local elections.
